The story of this legendary handheld console ended when Sony announced that they will totally stop PS Vita production in 2019. This was announced by the Senior Vice President of Sony Interactive Entertainment itself, Hiroyuki Oda during an interview at TGS 2018. He also added that Sony did not have any plan yet to create a successor for a portable handheld console.
Apart from this grieving news, Sony also reported that they would remove Vita games from PlayStation Plus game lineup around March 2019 to focus on PS4 titles.
This two news really means a lot to PS Vita fans. As it provides us with a missing link we need to be prepared for. It really means that PS Vita will be soon dead, folks. This situation is exactly like when a person who has stage 4 cancer got the news they will live for another year to come. For PS Vita, however, it is incurable and cannot be prevented. The death percentage is 100%.
Japan always known for supporting PS Vita for the longest times I know. Although the rest of the world stop producing games for PS Vita titles, Japan does the opposite. The Vita scene is much alive back in Japan. I still remember visiting Tokyo in late January 2018 and can see lots of titles being sold on their shelves. Most of them are games that are not being released to the rest of the world because they are in the Japanese language. Hence, when news that Japan itself will cease its production in 2019, then Vita now nearly come to the end of its life.
Will you sell away your PS Vita? Or for those who plan to take a step into PS Vita should you stop it now? My answer is no. My advice is, do not do it. Listen and keep your Vita. If you plan to buy it, please do so. I for once also intend to sell my Vita but once I hacked it, I never turned back.
Since Sony wanted to make this beauty to be dead why not I resurrect it back to its glory? And yes, once I hacked it, my PS Vita comes to is full potential. With a hacked Vita, this is what they can do;
– Play all PS Vita titles for free
– Play PS1 games
– Play PSP games
– Play PSM games
– Play NES. SNES
– Play Gameboy, Gameboy color and Gameboy advance
– Emulate retro consoles
Apart from all of this, you also can read books, read a manga or watch movies from your Vita. In order to resurrect your own Vita, you need to hack it. And thanks to HENkaku, the process is made simple. This is the YouTube videos links I follow to hacked my Vita and do it in less than 30 minutes.
And so, after you do this, you will see the full potential of PS Vita. For this reason alone, I still believe it is not the end yet for PS Vita. Maybe for its creator, Sony, PS Vita is dead to them but for me, it is still much alive for the next year to come.
